One of the chronic diseases in the society is the addiction and this is not only popular among tees but also among adults groups from ages to 12 and up. This does not only affect the person involved but as well as the families. It starts as voluntary taking but soon after that the person will lose their control to resist the temptation to take it. This is because the body becomes more dependent on the stimulant or the addicting substance that sooner can affect the behavior and life of the person.
To the families who wish to save their loved ones from getting stuck to this addiction and vices, what can you do? As one of our family members is suffering this type of problem, we couldn’t just simply leave them out alone fighting this because they have already weak resistance to the urge. The involvement of groups and families will not only help the person cope of with the stress of withdrawal but it will also encourage positive behavior to leave the drugs and lead a healthy lifestyle. But for sure, this is not as simple as that because clinically, one needs to undergo therapies and treatment in order to pass the challenge and overcome the critical stage of the withdrawal process. The detox stage can really be difficult for the person who is addicted because it will involve a feeling of anxiety, fever, chilling, vomiting and even nausea that only be relieved when they get a supply of the stimulant again.
Most addiction center treats these withdrawal effects through different therapies such as faith-bases therapy, skills training and education, sports and recreational activity, and even meditation. Around three-fourth of the individuals who had successfully withdrawn from being addicted were treated not just by single therapies and approaches. This is because recovery and treatment involve different stages with a different approach you need to take too. Below are the differences of the therapies that be applied to the addicted person.
- 1. Faith-Based
This involves strengthening the connection of spiritual aspect of the human being by getting them involved and engaged to religious activity such as bible studies, discussion and scripture reading. The motivational lessons that a person can get from the Scriptures will boost his ability to resist the bad temptation of drugs, narcotics, alcohol or other addicting activity and substance.
- 2. Skills Therapy
The person can enroll in some interesting program like painting, crafting or cooking where it gives him another area to venture his ability and interest. It will help greatly if he finds it interesting and educational as this can help improve his confidence that might be lost when he was into some addiction.
- 3. Sports Activity
The involvement in sports such as biking, mountain climbing, boxing or swimming can also serve as therapy to an addicted person. It will promote his resistance and fight the urge to take drugs again and because the body already exhausted then the person will tend to forget that he needs the drug or stimulant.
- 4. Meditation And Relaxation
Therapies that can be categorized as meditation can be yoga session, acupuncture or massage therapy to help the person cope up with the stressful situation when they are in the fight against using drugs.
Those are just a few therapies to name, but as there are various types of addiction such as narcotics addiction, drug addiction or alcohol addiction that means, you need to find the right approach, strong will of the person involved, and the support from groups and families to successfully win the battle. And yes, it is possible that one can be drug-free and lead healthy living again after being stuck in addiction if the treatment is right and the behavior is strong enough to overcome every challenge and of course, with the loving support and help of their families.
